CAIRO – 19 JULY 2017: The Supreme Council of Culture, under the patronage of Minister of Culture Hilmy Al-Namnam, launched a new major cultural competition entitled Egypt’s strength in its youth… Creativity Faces Terrorism, on Tuesday.

The competition is geared towards the youth and includes several categories: classic and slang poetry, short story, scenario, narration, animation, documentary film, theatrical text and a research about terrorism (causes and solutions), the secretary-general of the Supreme Council Of Culture, Hatem Rabie, said.

The competition will present three prizes for each category – LE 5,000 for first place, LE 3,000 for second place and LE 2,000 for third. Rabie added that the winning scenario and script will be displayed in different cultural sectors as well as winning poetry, script and narration will be published in the talented series published by the Supreme Council of Culture.

In addition, the council will exert efforts to implement winning researches, organize exhibition for distinguished works and award winners with medals and certificates of appreciation in a closing ceremony.

Participants of the competition should be between 17 to 35 years old, the animation should not be less than 3 minutes, entries for poetry, composition and singing should be sent on CD, research should not exceed 30 pages and the theatrical text duration should be less than 60 minutes.

Participants should present their works, which should be focused on countering terrorism, to the competition from July 24 to September 24.

The Supreme Council of Culture, affiliated with Ministry of Culture, includes intellectuals, writers, poets and artists aiming to spread culture among people and developing talents in various fields of culture and arts.
