CAIRO – 23 March 2023: The National Council for Women (NCW), under Mai Morsy, has mourned the death of iconic Egyptian radio broadcaster Fadila Tawfiq, known as Abla Fadila (Miss Fadila), who passed away Thursday.

Morsy said in a statement that the broadcaster has a remarkable positive influence on generations throughout the 1970s-1990s period.

Tawfiq was the first woman to tell children stories on the radio in the early 1960s.

The council sent its sincerest condolences to the family of the deceased and the entire Egyptian media.

Generations of children grew up listening to her daily A Song and a Story program.

In 1966, she became the head of radio's general program.
