CAIRO – 3 July 2017: The government will work to facilitate investment in the Suez Canal economic zone, Head of the Suez Canal Authority Mohab Memish said on Monday.

In a meeting with the Minister of Investment and International Cooperation Sahar Nasr, Memish presented the plan to develop six ports in the Suez Canal area, including East Port Said, West Port Said, Ain Sokhna and Arish.

Nasr said that investment opportunities in the Suez Canal area will be added to the investment map currently under preparation by the Ministry of Investment.

Egypt is currently developing a Suez Canal Development Axis, which will include an industrial zone, fish farming and agricultural projects.

The industrial zone comprises enterprises in food processing, packaging, car and equipment assembling, a tourist city and other sectors. The planned investments will also include a road network connecting areas in the industrial axis.
