EGX ends Monday on mixed note, market cap. gains LE 2.4B

CAIRO – 8 July 2019: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) ended Monday’s session on mixed note, adding about LE 2.4 billion to market capitalization, amid Arab and foreign selling.

The benchmark EGX 30 rose 0.22 percent, or 30.29 point, to close at 14,043.33 points.

The equally weighted index EGX 50 increased 0.80 percent, or 16.66 points, to close at 2,094.77 points.

On the other hand, the small and mid-cap index EGX 70 lessened 2.46 percent, or 14.02 points, to close at 556.26 points, and the broader index EGX 100 dipped 2 percent, or 29.28 point, to 1,435.58 points.

Market capitalization gained LE 2.4 billion, recording LE 748.64 billion, compared to LE 746.23 billion in Sunday’s session.

The trading volume reached 229.95 million shares, traded through 15,682 transactions, with a turnover of LE 695.76 million.

Egyptian investors were net buyers at LE 58.48 million, while Arab and foreign investors were net sellers at LE 130.16 million, and LE 71.68 million, respectively.

Egyptian, Arab, and foreign individuals were net sellers at LE 165,867, and LE 19.9 million, and LE 4.15 million, respectively.

Egyptian and foreign organizations bought at LE 58.65 million, and LE 75.83 million, respectively, while Arab organizations sold at LE 110.26 million.

Torah Cement, Egyptian Real Estate Group, and The Egyptian Company for Construction Development-Lift Slab were top gainers of the session by 7.71 percent, 5.68 percent and 5.05 percent, respectively.

Meanwhile, El Kahera Housing, EL Ezz Aldekhela Steel - Alexandria, and Nozha International Hospital were top losers of the session by 8.37 percent, 5.66 percent, and 4.80 percent, respectively.

EGX ended Sunday in a semi-collective regression, as EGX30 rose 0.11 percent, while EGX50 declined 0.43 percent, EGX70 inched down 4.52 percent, and EGX100 dropped 3.89 percent.
