Mercedes-Benz seeks resuming production in Egypt

BERLIN - 12 January 2019: Mercedes-Benz looks forward to resuming production in Egypt soon, said a senior official of the German company on Friday.

The global vehicle manufacturer also considers additional models in Egypt, Markus Schafer, Member of the Divisional Board of Mercedes-Benz Cars, told Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli, who is visiting Berlin.

Madbouli said that Cairo seeks cooperation with Mercedez-Banz to manufacture self-driving and electric cars. He suggested the company to dispatch a delegation to Egypt to mull investment opportunities.

He cited new investment incentives and Egypt's free trade agreements with several countries.
