CAIRO – 31 May 2017: Minister of Investment and International Cooperation Sahar Nasr discussed with Norwegian Ambassador in Cairo Sten Rosnes expanding the $1.2 million Norway-funded project to include other Egyptian governorates, the Ministry said in a Wednesday statement.

The project, dubbed "job opportunities for Egypt's youth: working together," is implemented by the International Labour Organization in the Delta governorates of Qalyubia and Menoufia.

The meeting touched on increasing Norwegian investments in Egypt, particularly in the field of renewable energy.

In this regard, the two sides mulled boosting joint cooperation in the second phase of the feed-in-tariff for solar energy project, in which $3 billion investments will be injected by Norway's Scatec Solar company, the International Finance Corporation, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, in addition to other investors.

Scatec Solar is expected to provide $500 million as part of the total sum in October, the statement said.

Meanwhile, the Norwegian diplomat voiced his country's desire to promote cooperation with Egypt in the petroleum field via exchanging expertise and technical support.
