EGX adds LE 1.84B to market cap by end of Wednesday’s session

CAIRO – 11 June 2018: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) ended Wednesday’s session in green, adding LE 1.84 billion to its market capitalization, amid Egyptian purchases.

The benchmark EGX30 rose 0.20 percent, or 31.39 points, to close at 15,952.42 points.

The equally weighted index EGX50 climbed 0.68 percent, or 18.35 points, to reach 2,709.09 points.

The small and mid-cap index EGX70 stabilized at 779.63 points, and the broader index EGX100 went up 0.20 percent, or 4.06 points, closing at 1,997.39 points.

Market capitalization gained LE 1.84 billion, recording LE 889.40 billion, compared to LE 887.56 billion in Tuesday’s session.

The trading volume reached 198.62 million shares, traded through 25,475 transactions, with a turnover of LE 799.38 million.

Egyptian investors were net buyers at LE 98.58 million, while Arab and foreign investors were net sellers at LE 23.37 million and LE 75.21 million, respectively.

Arab individuals were net sellers at LE 16.4 million, while Egyptian and foreign individuals were net buyers at LE 34.17 million and LE 271,490, respectively.

Egyptian organizations bought at LE 64.41 million, while Arab and foreign organizations sold at LE 6.96 million, and LE 75.48 million, respectively.

Egyptian Iron & Steel, Arab Co. for Asset Management and Development, and Egyptian for Developing Building Materials were top gainers of the session by 7.53 percent, 7.37 percent and 5.75 percent, respectively.

On the other hand, TransOceans Tours, Wadi Kom Ombo Land Reclamation, and Gharbia Islamic Housing Development were top losers of the session by 14.29 percent, 6.98 percent and 6.91 percent, respectively.

EGX ended its downtrend that continued for four sessions in row from Wednesday to Monday, by entering the green zone on Tuesday, as EGX30 rose 0.86 percent, EGX50 hiked 1.87 percent, EGX70 climbed 0.54 percent, and EGX100 went up 0.81 percent.
