CAIRO – 10 June 2018: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) ended the first session of the week in green; market capitalization gained LE 8.09 billion ($452.53 million), amid foreign purchases.

The benchmark EGX30 rose 1.38 percent, or 219.06 points, to close at 16,142.72 points.

The equally weighted index EGX50 climbed 1.35 percent, or 35.78 points, to reach 2,695.60 points.

Meanwhile, the small and mid-cap index EGX70 hiked 0.78 percent, or 6.20 points, closing at 800.75 points, and the broader index EGX100 increased 0.95 percent, or 19.31 points, to close at 2,057.25 points.

Market capitalization gained LE 8.09 billion, recording LE 910.86 billion, compared to LE 902.77 billion in Thursday’s session.

The trading volume reached 92.29 million shares, traded through 14,344 transactions, with a turnover of LE 466.29 million.

Foreign investors were net buyers at LE 34.56 million, while Egyptian and Arab investors were net sellers at LE 15.03 million and LE 19.53 million, respectively.

Foreign individuals bought at LE 144,560, while Egyptian and Arab individuals sold at LE 59.34 million, and LE 9.33 million, respectively.

Arab organizations were net sellers at LE 10.19 million, while Egyptian and foreign organizations were net buyers at LE 41.3 million, and LE 34.42, respectively.

Sinai Cement, El Arabia for Land Reclamation, and General Company For Land Reclamation, Development & Reconstruction were top gainers of the session by 9.23 percent, 8.83 percent and 8.61 percent, respectively.

On the other hand, Egyptian Satellites (NileSat), El-Nile Co. For Pharmaceuticals and Chemical Industries, and Arab Cotton Ginning were top losers of the session by 7 percent, 2.47 percent and 2.46 percent, respectively.

The EGX ended Thursday’s session on mixed performance, as EGX30 rose 0.09 percent, while EGX50 dropped 0.87 percent, EGX100 went down 0.74 percent, and EGX70 declined 1 percent.

Trading on the EGX during the holy month of Ramadan is from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. (CLT).
