EGX ends Sunday in semi collective regression amid Egyptian, Arab selling

CAIRO – 27 May 2018: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) ended Sunday's session in a semi-collective regression, and market capitalization lost LE 168.15 million ($29.2 million) amid Egyptian and Arab selling.

The benchmark EGX30 edged up 0.09 percent, or 14.50 points, to close at 16,648.47 points.

The equally weighted index EGX50 slipped 0.25 percent, or 7.35 points, to reach 2,889.19 points.

The small and mid-cap index EGX70 decreased 0.61 percent, or 5.24 points, closing at 853.13 points, and the broader index EGX100 went down 0.07 percent, or 1.47 points, to close at 2,177.80 points.

Market capitalization lost LE 168 million, recording LE 948.42 billion, compared to LE 948.58 billion in Thursday’s session.

The trading volume reached 96.08 million shares, traded through 13,369 transactions, with a turnover of LE 458.48 million.

Foreign investors were net buyers at LE 54.58 million, while Egyptian and Arab investors were net sellers at LE 56.22 million and LE 8.36 million, respectively.

Egyptian and foreign individuals were net buyers at LE 11.43 million and LE 71,089, respectively, while Arab individuals were net sellers at LE 8.3 million.

Egyptian and Arab organizations sold at LE 57.65 million and LE 65,267, respectively, while foreign organizations bought at LE 54.51 million.

General Company For Land Reclamation, Development & Reconstruction, Modern Company for water proofing (Bitumode), and Northern Upper Egypt Development & Agricultural Production were top gainers of the session by 10 percent, 9.88 percent and 5.46 percent, respectively.

On the other hand, El Arabia Engineering Industries, El Arabia for Land Reclamation and Ismailia National Food Industries were top losers of the session by 9.83 percent, 8.80 percent and 4.19 percent, respectively.

The EGX ended Thursday’s session in red, as the EGX30 dropped 0.17 percent, EGX50 slipped 0.44 percent, EGX70 decreased 0.50 percent and EGX100 went down 0.45 percent.

Trading on the EGX during the holy month of Ramadan is from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. (CLT).
