CAIRO - 7 May 2018: Egypt's exports of chemicals and fertilizers increased by about 24 percent to hit 1.2 billion dollars during the first quarter of 2018 against US $ 985.16 million in the relevant period in 2017.

Chairman of the Egyptian Chemicals and Fertilizers Export Council Khaled Abul Makarem said in a report, a copy of which was obtained by MENA Monday, that the sector's exports constitute 20 percent of Egypt's non-petroleum exports.

In general, the sector's exports achieved a collective increase during the first quarter of 2018, except for detergents which reduced during the first three months of 2018 by about 11 percent to reach 67.66 million dollars, compared to 76.39 million dollars during the relevant period in 2017, Abul Makarem added.
