CAIRO - 10 February 2018: President of the African Development Bank (AFDB) Akinwumi Adesina said he is pleased with the strategic partnership between Egypt and the AfDB.

The AfDB is willing to support its operations in Egypt, Adesina said in his speech at the inauguration of the third African Forum on Science, Technology and Innovation, which kicked off in Cairo earlier Saturday.

He told the gathering that the AfDB allocated $500 million for many projects, adding that another $400 million were set aside for the private sector.

AfDB's support for projects will sure help change the way the water file is tackled in Africa, Adesina said.

He made it clear that AU leaders had formed a committee of 10 and outlined an agenda of decimal technology.

It is important to secure equal job opportunities for men and women in Africa, the president of the AfDB stressed, pressing for female education and women empowerment.
