EGX hits record, benchmark breaches above 15K points

CAIRO – 28 December 2017: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) ended its transactions Thursday on a mixed note. Benchmark EGX30 went up 0.75 percent to stand at 15,016 points.

The small and mid-cap index EGX70 decreased 0.23 percent to end at 824.45 points and the broader index EGX100 also leveled down 0.05 percent to close at 1,960.27 points.

Market capitalization hiked LE 2 billion as it recorded LE 825.814 billion, down from LE 823.798 billion attained at the end of transactions on Wednesday.

Egyptian individuals and Arab institutions were net sellers at LE 88.9 million and LE 4.33 million, meanwhile, Arab and foreign individuals as well as Egyptian and foreign institutions were net buyers at LE 1.85 million, LE 2.64 million, LE 4.63 million and LE 84.179 million respectively.

On its first trading day, Al-Tawfeek Leasing Company, the company's shares went up 20.75 percent to close at LE 7.8. Al-Tawfeek is the first financial leasing company to be floated in the stock market.
