CAIRO – 5 March 2017: Egyptian Minister of Investment and International Cooperation Dr. Sahar Nasr met with Egyptian and Arab investors Sunday at the ministry’s headquarters to discuss pressing investment-related issues in Egypt.

The minister said the Egyptian government is working full-swing to pave the way for further investments, pointing out that in order to attract foreign investment dialogue should be open with local investors to deal with any potential problems.

“Addressing obstacles and problems that investors face is considered a top priority for the ministry,” the minister said. “Achieving that should encourage investors to pump even more investments into various sectors, which will positively affect Egypt’s GDP and create numerous job opportunities.”

The minister also stressed that her meetings will not be limited to her office only, as she will be going on field visits to different governorates to meet with investors and discuss their problems. “This will have a positive impact on the state growth rate, thus improving the livelihood of citizens,” Nasr added.

A number of notable Egyptian businessmen and investors attended the meeting, including Sadek Al-Sewedy, Mohamed Aboul Enein, Abdalla El Nockrashy and Ahmed Abu Hashima as well as representatives from top companies such as Qalaa Holdings, Orascom Development, Oriental Weavers and Emaar Misr.

Nasr said the ministry is coordinating with the other Egyptian ministries to improve Egypt’s ‘Doing Business’ ranking and to put a solid investment plan that would include airports, marine terminals and industrial and investment zones in a way that coincides with Egypt’s sustainable development vision and goals.

During the meeting, a number of issues and obstacles were discussed as well as ideas and recommendations by investors to improve and develop the investment process in Egypt.

Further meetings with investors in various sectors and their competent ministers will be held to facilitate any obstacles facing investors, Nasr added.
