Talks underway with Chinese companies to set up textile investments

CAIRO – 6 September 2017: Deputy Chairman of the General Authority for Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZone)'s Southern Region General Mahfouz Taha said important meetings will be held in the coming period with major Chinese companies to expound investment potentials in the Suez Canal corridor.

The official's remarks were made on Wednesday after his meeting with Minister of Trade and Industry Tarek Kabil during his visit to the SCZone's stand set up at the Egyptian pavilion in China-Arab States Expo 2017, which kicked off in the Chinese city of Yinchuan, the capital of Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region.

Taha said talks are underway with major Chinese companies to set up textile industries in the southern region of the Suez Canal corridor, according to a statement by the SCZone.

He said the southern region of SCZone has vast investment potentials as infrastructure projects would be finalized soon, said the statement.

The Egyptian pavilion has attracted the attention of several Chinese companies and delegations participating in the exhibition as a presentation of the economic potentials in the Suez Canal region was displayed at the exhibition.
