EGX ends in red, benchmark almost flat

CAIRO – 5 September 2017: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) saw a positive performance at the first session after Eid holidays on Tuesday, boosted by foreign sales.

The benchmark index EGX30 minimally decreased 0.01 percent to close at 13,415 points.

The small and mid-cap index EGX70 inched down 0.14 percent to end at 691.5 points.

The broader index EGX100 index also declined 0.40 percent to close at 1,564 points.

Market capitalization fell by LE 180 million to reach LE 704.83, down from LE 705 billion in the last session.

Shares of 84 listed companies recorded hikes, while shares of 56 companies declined and stocks of 35 companies remained unchanged at the end of the trading session.

Local, Arab and foreign investors were net buyers with a total of LE 9.6 million, LE 17.98 million and LE 1.4 million respectively, while foreign institutions sold for LE 92.5 million.
