CAIRO – 3 August 2017: A new plan to improve solar energy production was unveiled such that there is a complete system for the production and export of solar energy equipment and systems by the year 2020, according to Ministr of Electricity and Renewable Energy, Mohamed Shaker.

The plan, which was unveiled in a meeting with Anhar Hegazy, an expert in the field of renewable energy and rationalizing energy efficiency, came as part of the electricity sector’s interest in renewable energy in order to support and promote the use of renewable energy.

Hegazy demonstrated in her presentation the necessary steps to increase the use of solar energy.

It is necessary to prioritize means of research and improving solar energy, she said, as well as raising public awareness of its benefits and safety. It is also important to encourage local production and competition with regional producers.

She stressed on the efforts that need to go into integrating thermal applications in construction and industrial sectors, and the need to attend to initiatives encouraging the use of solar power.

Shaker reasserted Egypt’s efforts to expand renewable energy production, stating its plans to spread renewable energy, and forecasting 20 percent use of renewable energy in Egypt by the year 2022 and then an increase to 37 percent by the year 2035.
