Cairo – January 28, 2024: Kickstarting the final week of January trading in the green, trading on the Egyptian Exchange (EGX) surged, pushing the market cap. to a record-breaking LE 2 trillion.

Trading on benchmark index EGX 30 surged by 3.47 percent to 2,8625.76 points.

EGX 70 jumped by 2.14 percent to 6,724.72 points, followed by EGX 100 with a climb of 2.41 percent to end the session at 9,544.58 points.

Sunday’s trading saw 1.25 billion shares exchanged with a turnover of LE 6.24 billion.

Market capitalization was reported at a record-breaking LE 2.048,7 trillion, compared to last week’s close of LE 1.971,6 trillion.

This is the first time that Egypt’s stock market has broken through the 2 trillion mark, having broken the LE 1 trillion record on January 29, 2023.

Trading on securities saw Egyptian and foreign investors as net sellers with LE 30.03 million and LE 5.64 million, respectively. Arab traders were net buyers with LE 35.68 million.
