Nawah Scientific becomes 1st African lab to acquire US-FDA accreditation

CAIRO – 19 November 2023: Nawah Scientific becomes the first African lab to acquire accreditation from the US-FDA, and that is one of 205 companies that have been receiving support and funding from Egypt Ventures since 2017, Minister of International Cooperation Rania al-Mashat stated.

 

Nawah Scientific is MENA's and Africa's first cloud lab providing analytical and R&D services to the region's life science, food, agriculture, and pharmaceutical sectors.

The lab's founder and CEO, Omar Sakr, said that the certification is a milestone as the US-FDA's accreditation used to be predominantly given to European companies. He noted that Egyptian exporters would be able to retain the company's services instead of sending samples for testing abroad saving half the costs and 90 percent of the time the process takes.

Sakr stated that the company planned to launch operations in Nigeria and South Africa, and to cooperate with the World Food Programme (WFP), a press statement released by the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones (GAFI) indicated Sunday.
