CAIRO - 11 August 2023: The volume of Egyptian exports of medicines exceeded $300 million, said the Egyptian Medicines Authority Sunday.

The total exports of medicines, supplies and medical devices to more than 150 countries rose to the some $1 billion.

The Egyptian medicine is becoming increasingly positive, thanks to its following the best international standards in good manufacturing.

The Egyptian Medicines Authority said it aims to significantly expand exports, especially in Africa. The first shipment of medical supplies was exported to Zimbabwe just recently, it added.

Localizing the drug industry is one of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s announced plans to achieve self-sufficiency in medicine on the one hand, and to seek to bring in the latest technology to manufacture medicine locally.

There is emphasis on vital items on which the state spends millions of dollars to import, and to increase Egyptian exports and foreign exchange flow.
