Egypt plans to reduce electricity network loss to 16.83% in FY23/24

CAIRO - 10 July 2023: Egypt plans to reduce the electricity network loss rate to 16.83 percent for the fiscal year 2023/2024, according to Engineer Ahmed Sedky, the head of the Upper Egypt Electricity Distribution Company.
 
Engineer Sedky said that the network loss is expected to reach 18.21% for the fiscal year 2022/2023, while the actual loss rate of the FY 2021/2022 was 22.188 percent.  
 
Sedky added that there is a plan in the company to reduce the percentage of losses in the electrical network resulting from electric current thefts, pointing out that the most important features of this plan is the speedy completion of the installation of the code meters.   
 
Sedky explained that one of the most important procedures for reducing the percentage of loss in the network is the speed of lifting and changing the idle meters, where the process is carried out through the engineering laboratory and with an examination report that guarantees the right of the company and the right of the subscriber.
