ISMAILIA, Egypt - 15 July 2017: The world’s biggest container ship crossed the Suez Canal on Saturday loaded with 21,413 containers as part of the north-bound convoy coming from Britain.

Building the giant ship of OCCL Hong Kong was finished on May 18 in Samsung arsenal for heavy industries in South Korea, according to a Suez Canal Authority source.

OCCL Hong Kong is bigger than the Danish container ship of Maersk Madrid, the source said.

The 400 meter long and 59 meter wide ship sailed for the first time on June 3.
