Donors require 50% women participation in projects: Nasr

CAIRO – 9 July 2017: All grants given to Egypt from international financial institutions condition a 50 percent of women involvement in projects, Minister of Investment Sahar Nasr said Sunday.

Speaking at Youth and Employability Conference, Nasr said that unemployment rate in Egypt is 13 percent; 24 percent of them is between males, a statement from the ministry said.

Women’s contribution in small projects is 90 percent, while it is 24 percent in micro small projects, Nasr added.

The conference, which is organized by the Ministry of Investment, World Bank, Agence Francaise De Development (AFD), Anna Lindh Foundation and EU-funded Young Mediterranean Voices, discussed methods and tools hindering youth employment in the MENA region.
