Arab and International states strongly condemned a terrorist attack that targeted a bus carrying dozens of Christians in Upper Egypt’s Minya, affirming their support of Egypt in its fight against terrorism.

Twenty-eight people were killed and at least 25 others injured after unknown gunmen opened fire at the bus, which was carrying more than 40 Coptic Christians, on Friday along the Western Desert Road.

Saudi Arabia

“Saudi Kingdom strongly condemns the armed attack that took place in Egyptian governorate of Minya,” Saudi Press Agency quoted an official from the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

He reaffirmed “the Kingdom's solidarity with the Arab Republic of Egypt, underlining the importance of joining international efforts to eradicate the scourge of terrorism and extremism.”

United Arab of Emirates

"The United Arab of Emirates stands with the Arab Republic of Egypt and its people against extremism and terrorism," the Foreign Ministry stated in a statement, describing the attack as a malignant act.
It called for an international cooperation to uproot the terrorist phenomena.

Palestine

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas decried the attack, affirming his people’s support to Egypt in its fight against the terrorism.
“The terrorist attacks will not destabilize Egypt’s efforts in counter-terrorism by any means,” Abbas said in the statement.

Iraq

“Iraq stands with the Egyptian people and their government against all extremist and terrorist groups that target the unity of this honorable people,” said the Iraqi Foreign Ministry in a statement.

Iraq expressed its sincere condolences to the families of the victims, and wishes the speedy recovery of the injured. Iraq “reiterated its call for the need to strongly strike the evils of extremism in the region and to drain its financing sources.”

Russia

“This disgusting action once again demonstrated the inhuman essence of international terrorists who do not stop at any cost to achieve their lowly goals - to instill in the hearts of the Egyptians a sense of fear and uncertainty and to sow interdenominational discord,,” said Russian Foreign Ministry in a statement.

United Kingdom

UK ambassador to Cairo John Casson expressed his country’s condolences, saying “I despise & condemn the killing in Minya. May the terrorists fail in spreading hate. Strength & solidarity to all suffering & responding.”

Germany

The ministry spokesperson Martin Schaefer told the press in Berlin that Germany "condemns in the strongest possible terms these kinds of attacks on believers.” He offered condolences to the victims’ relatives.
