Hezbollah funds Hamas leaders in Algeria: Saudi Okaz

Sun, Nov. 26, 2017
CAIRO – 26 November 2017: Saudi-owned Okaz newspaper reported that Hezbollah opened bank accounts for Hamas’ leaders in Algeria.

Sources in the security sector told Okaz that members of Lebanese Hezbollah living in Algiers “transferred funds to members of Hamas in Algeria,” revealing that the transaction occurred among local bank accounts located in Algiers.

Sources close to Hamas told Okaz on Sunday that the new bank accounts which were opened in Algeria belong to Hamas spokesperson Sami Abu Zuhri who lived in Gaza and Cairo before moving to Algeria last October.

Hamas’ political wing official, Salah al-Bardawil, renewed his party’s pledge to not go forward with forming a unilateral government should the party win over a dashing majority in the upcoming Legislative Council elections, Asharq Awsaat newspaper reported on Friday.

“I want to reassure everyone—despite currently securing 60 percent of the council’s seats, and having the right to form a government and do what we want-- we do not want to bring the Palestinian people into a new wave of inhumane pressure,” said Bardawil in an interview with Asharq Al-Awsat.
