CAIRO – 7 July 2020: The General Intelligence Service mourned Tuesday the death of Lieutenant General Mohammed Saeed al Assar who died on Monday suffering from cancer.

The Intelligence’s statement said that al Assar who was the minister of Military Production had a long life full of struggle and sacrifice for the sake of the country. The late General was promoted to Lieutenant General by President Abdel Fatah al Sisi on June 26, he was born in 1946 and participated in wars of attrition and Six October.

Al Assar was part of the Air Defense force. The Egyptian President Abdel Fatah al Sisi mourned earlier on Monday through his official Facebook page the death of al Assar.

“Egypt has lost today a statesman of great national value, which is Lieutenant General Mohamed Al-Assar - Minister of State for Military Production - who passed away today,” read al Sisi’s statement. Al Assar assumed office as the minister of Military production in 2015.
