CAIRO – 22 June 2017: “Despite the ongoing Saudi-led diplomatic imbroglio between the Gulf State of Qatar and a number of its neighboring Arab powers, Qatari Emir Tamim bin Hammad congratulated Saudi’s newly-inaugurated Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman,” CNN reported Wednesday citing official Qatari News Agency (QNA)

The small but energy-rich Qatar has been facing a complete diplomatic and trade embargo since June 5, amid accusations of supporting terrorism and fuelling regional instability.

In his message to Bin Salman, bin Hammad congratulated Saudi King Salman, extending wishes of good health and wellness to him, and further progress and prosperity to the Saudi people.

Emphasizing the close and fraternal relations between the two countries, Bin Hammad expressed his desire to strengthen mutual relations, wishing Bin Salman success in the duties of his new position under the wise leadership of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques.

In the early hours of Wednesday, Saudi King Salman bin Abdul Aziz’ first son Mohammed bin Salman was named Saudi's new Crown Prince.

The prince was unanimously approved by the kingdom's Allegiance Council.
