CAIRO – 14 November 2019: The Egyptian National Council for Human Rights (NCHR) commemorated former UN Secretary General Boutros Boutros-Ghali’s birthday anniversary in one of the International Council for Human Rights’ halls, Thursday, November 14.

The ceremony was attended by a number of foreign ambassadors, representatives of international missions and a representative of the President of the International Council, as well as a number of Egyptian and international human rights organizations.

Participants praised the memory of the former Secretary-General, as the first Egyptian and African to assume this position and his contribution to the international human rights work, and what he gave to humanity.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mohamed Fayek, NCHR Chairman, praised the historical role played by Ghali.

Egypt's Minister of Parliamentary Affairs Omar Marwan also talked about the various efforts executed by Ghali aiming to serve his country and all humanity.

Marwan pointed out that his generation was educated and gained most of its political consciousness from the magazine of the international policy which was headed by Ghali. All of the attendees confirmed that he was already the Dean of Egyptian diplomacy.
