Sawiris calls for banning Turkish products in Arab countries

CAIRO – 10 June 2017: Business tycoon Naguib Sawiris called for preventing the entry of Turkish products into Arab markets, due to Turkey’s support to Qatar.

“After Turkey had sent armed forces to Qatar, it is necessary to ban the entry of any Turkish products into all Arab states that reject Qatar’s terrorism,” Sawiris said on his official Twitter account Saturday.

President Tayyip Erdogan approved Friday legislation on deploying Turkish troops in Qatar, after a boycott from several Arab countries had imposed isolation on Qatar over its alleged support to terrorism, Reuters reported.

Sawiris had earlier urged Egyptian investors to withdraw their investments from Qatar in the wake of Cairo’s announcement to cut its diplomatic ties with the Gulf country.
