CAIRO – 20 June 2019: The Bucharest University of Economic Studies conferred an honorary doctorate on Egypt's President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi, during his official visit to Romania on Wednesday as part of a European tour.

This step comes as a recognition from the University of Sisi's role in leading Egypt during a hard period of unrest to a new stage of stability, development and construction, where deep structural reforms and academic reforms have been carried out in accordance with the international standards, presidential spokesman Bassam Radi said.

The Bucharest University officials hailed the president's efforts in developing both the basic and higher education in Egypt, and establishing a number of new universities, according to Radi.

The University also valued the president's active contribution to the promotion of peace and cooperation at the international level and his pioneering efforts to formulate a comprehensive international framework to combat terrorism and extremist ideology, Radi said, as well as his leading efforts in Egypt to combat and contain terrorism.

It also praised the active role and keenness of President Sisi in promoting bilateral relations between Egypt and Romania in all fields, especially economy, and the encouragement of investments and joint projects.
