Egypt strongly condemns Houthi attack on Saudi Arabia's Abha airport

CAIRO – 12 June 2019: Egypt has strongly condemned an attack launched Wednesday morning by Yemen's Houthi militia against Abha Airport in Saudi Arabia which left 26 people of various nationalities injured.

A statement issued by the Foreign Ministry said the government and people of Egypt stand in solidarity with the government and people of Saudi Arabia in the face all attempts to destabilize the kingdom.

The Foreign Ministry wished the injured a speedy recovery, saying attacks on civilian airports represent a flagrant violation of international law.

It appealed to the international community to work on confronting all terrorist acts that affect the stability of the region.

In following statements, Bahrain, Yemen, UAE and other Arab countries condemned the attack.

The Bahraini Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement that it strongly condemns the terrorist attack by the Iran-backed Houthi militias on Saudi Arabia's Abha International Airport which injured a number of people including women and children.

“The attack is a cowardly criminal act against innocent civilians, in contradiction with international humanitarian law and norms,” Bahrain News Agency reported.

Spokesman for the Yemeni government Rageh Badi said that targeting Saudi Arabia's Abha International Airport by the Houthis is an “act of terror”.

A military action is the only solution to end the terrorism of the Houthis, Al Arabiya news channel quoted Badi as saying.
