CAIRO – 8 June 2017: Egypt has strongly condemned the terror attack that took place in Iran, which targeted the Parliament building and the tomb of Imam Khomeini, killing 13 people and injuring 43 others, said Egyptian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Ahmed Abu Zaid in a statement on Thursday.

“Egypt expressed sincere condolences to the families of the victims, asking God the Almighty to inspire them patience and fortitude, and to grant them mercy. It also called for the international community to intensify its efforts in order to combat the phenomenon of terrorism and to dry up the sources of its financing,” the statement read.
Six armed men launched an attack Wednesday morning in Iran’s capital killing 13 people and injuring around 43 others. The two attacks took place in Parliament and Mausoleum.

The six attackers were Iranians, who had joined the Islamic State (IS) terrorist group, according to the deputy secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, Reza Seifollahi.

The attackers were armed with rifles and pistols and at least two blew themselves up with suicide vests, Iranian media reported.

IS claimed that they are the reason why the attack took place in Iran. In March IS, released their first Persian video to recruit Iranians and threat the governments.
