CAIRO – 8 June 2017: Qatar’s ambassador in Egypt, Saif Muqaddam Al-Buainein, flied to Turkey on Wednesday on his way to Qatar, after the Egyptian government’s decision to cut off diplomatic ties with Qatar. Egypt gave Qatari officials 48 hours to leave country, according to sources at the Cairo International airport.

The Egyptian Ministry Of Foreign Affairs informed Al-Buainein on Monday that he had 48 hours to leave country, and an Egyptian Judge in Doha, Tarek Abdel-Hamid, has been recalled and given 48 hour to leave Qatar as well.

On Monday, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Bahrain, Yemen and the Maldives announced they are severing relations with Qatar over allegations that Qatar supports terrorist groups. Egypt and its allies have closed off ports to Qatari vessels.

Greece agreed on Monday to represent Egypt diplomatically in Qatar.
