CAIRO - 16 March 2019: The Court of Cassation upheld on Saturday a verdict to place 169 defendants on the terror list.

The court turned down challenges submitted by the defendants against a previous decision placing them on terrorist lists for five years.

The defendants are charged with plotting to harm the Egyptian economy and claiming that the mega projects are useless to undermine confidence in the government and its economic policy.

The defendants were planning to spread rumors on the prevalence of corruption at the State bodies, defaming the civil service law and claiming that the government seeks the dismissal of the civil servants from their jobs.
