CAIRO – 6 March 2019: The Military Production Ministry's Qaha Chemical Industries (Factory 270) and the Swiss company, AquaSwiss, signed on Wednesday a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to establish seawater desalination plants.

Minister of State for Military Production Mohammed Said al-Assar witnessed signing the agreement which stipulates enhancing cooperation between the two sides in treatment of sewage and industrial wastewater.

The agreement comes as part of the ministry's efforts to cooperate with global companies to apply the latest technology in the treatment of drainage and industrial water in implementation of Egypt's 2030 Sustainable Development Strategy.

Executive director of AquaSwiss Company Sanjeev Varma affirmed cooperation between the company and the Military Production Ministry in setting up seawater desalination plants will be crowned with success given the company's technological and industrial potentials and well-trained workforce.

At the end of the meeting, Varma said that a technical delegation will visit Egypt next week to agree on steps to be taken to put the agreement into force and set a plan to implement the next steps.
