CAIRO, Jan 30 (MENA) - The Arab League underlined on Wednesday the importance of promoting values of religious tolerance, peaceful coexistence and dialogue among people of different faiths and creeds.

In a statement on the occasion of the World Interfaith Harmony Week, the Arab League stressed that promoting these values will help buttress international security and peace and achieve sustainable development.

It expressed rejection of all attempts to link Islam to terrorism and the misleading interpretation of religious texts and teachings used by terrorist organizations as a pretext to spread extremist ideas.

It expressed support of UN General Assembly resolution 167/66 on fighting fanaticism and discrimination.
