CAIRO – 29 May 2017: The death toll of the Palm Sunday terror attack in Tanta rose to 30 people after Paula Abdullah Gerogy died of severe injuries on Monday, announced the Coptic Orthodox Church in a statement.

On April 9, a terror attack targeted Mar Girgis’ Church in Tanta, claiming the lives of 29 people; in the same day, St. Mark’s Coptic Orthodox Cathedral in Alexandria was also targeted by another attack, killing and injuring dozens.

The Islamic State (IS) terrorist group claimed responsibility for two attacks.

On May 21, Attorney-General Nabil Sadek referred a total of 48 suspects to a military trial over charges of involving in the Palm Sunday bombings.
