Egypt, UAE to build logistics village at Cairo Airport

CAIRO – 19 Oct 2018: EgyptAir on Friday signed with the UAE-based KMK Investment and the US-based Safe Ports Holdings a partnership agreement on the establishment of a logistics village at Cairo International Airport.

The deal comes as part of the Civil Aviation Ministry's development strategy led by Minister Younis el Masry.

As per the deal, the Emirati KMK Investment will be responsible for funding, building and running the village, in addition to supervising EgyptAir projects for freighting goods and exports, in collaboration with the American Safe Ports Holdings.

The partnership was inked by Chairman of EgyptAir Holding Company Ahmed Adel, KMK Investment Executive Director Omar Ibrahim Khader and the Safe Port Holdings Regional Director.

The project is expected to contribute to enhancing the efficiency of Cairo airport and increasing its capacity, as well as facilitating the movement of commodities from and to the airport, Adel said.

For his part, Khader said the new partnership comes as a culmination of the fruitful cooperation between Egypt and the UAE in the different fields
