CAIRO- 24 May 2017: The share of every person with special needs in the general budget is only LE 2.5 ($0.14), according to statements from the social solidarity minister, Ghada Waly, during her meeting with the social solidarity committee in the House of Representatives on Tuesday.

Waly revealed that the ministry is covering the protection of citizens with special needs due to acts of terrorism of natural disasters, by paying compensation to victims, but still cannot cover their welfare and development, urging citizens and civil society to donate for a better life for them.

“The allocated budget for people with special needs is only LE 400 million ($22.10 million), while there are 2 million citizens with special needs in Egypt,” Waly said.

President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi has declared 2018 as the year of those challenged with a disability, which led Waly to demand raising the allocated budget for people with special needs.
