CAIRO – 13 May 2017: The Egyptian navy managed to rescue 24 tourists after a fire broke out on a launch in northern Hurgada Saturday; no injuries were reported.

The naval firefighters, along with the rapid rescue forces, quickly responded to a call for help from the Crisis Operations Room in the Red Sea governorate, and were deployed to the scene.

English, German and French tourists were aboard the launch, the Red Sea Maritime Rescue Association Chairperson, Dr. Hassan Al-Tayyeb said, adding that the fire was initially sparked by an overloaded electrical circuit.
