CAIRO - 17 May 2018: Arab foreign ministers arrived in Cairo to take part in the emergency meeting of the Arab League, which will take place at the Arab League Headquarters on Thursday to discuss the latest developments in the Palestinian issue.

The foreign ministers’ meeting is being held upon the request of Saudi Arabia, which presides the current session of the Arab Summit, in order to reach a unified Arab decision regarding the Israeli aggression against Palestinians and the unlawful decision to move the U.S. Embassy to Jerusalem, assistant Secretary-General of the Arab League, Hossam Zaki, previously stated.

An extraordinary session of the Arab League Council took place on Wednesday to review means of confronting the U.S. decision to move its Israeli embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.

The meeting at the permanent delegates' level was presided by Saudi Arabia at a request from Palestine, in preparation for the Arab foreign ministers' meeting on Thursday, according to Saudi Ambassador Osama Nugali.

The foreign ministers of Yemen, Qatar and Morocco arrived in Cairo Thursday to join their counterparts in the meeting.

In statements prior to the meeting, Palestinian Ambassador in Cairo and Permanent Delegate to the Arab League Diab al Louh said the meeting should come up with decisions that are up to the unfolding events in the Palestinian territories.

He considered moving the U.S. Embassy on the anniversary of the Palestinian Nakbah as an aggression and provocation to Arab, Muslim and Christian feelings.

He also referred to the crimes committed by Israel against unarmed Palestinians and the importance of securing international protection for the Palestinians.
