CAIRO – 15 May 2018: The Supreme State Security Prosecution has detained Shadi al-Ghazaly Harb, a former founding member of the Dostour Party, for 15 days pending investigation into charges of case no. 261 of 2018.


Harb is being accused of joining a group established in violation to the provisions of the law and the constitution with the aim to disrupt state institutions, spread false news, and undermine trust in the Egyptian state.


The case also includes Amal Fathy, wife of Mohamed Lotfy, director of the Egyptian Commission for Rights and Freedoms (ECRF); video blogger Shadi Abu Zaid; 6 April activist Sherif el-Roubi, and blogger Mohamed Radwan.
