CAIRO – 14 May 2018: The chief of French intelligence confirmed to President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi the importance of continuous coordination with Egypt, according to presidency spokesperson Bassam Rady in a statement on Monday.

Sisi welcomed Laurent Nunez, chief of French intelligence, in the presence of Major General Abbas Kamel, chief of Egypt’s General Intelligence.

According to a statement, the president greeted the French official, asking him to relay his greetings to French President Macron, reassuring the depth of the relationship between both countries.

The president shed light on the importance of re-enforcing cooperation between Egypt and France in all sectors, including security and intelligence.

Sisi praised the coordination and consultation between both countries, especially when it comes to significant issues shared by both countries, especially means of combating terrorism, which has caused suffering for both countries.

Nunez delivered Macron’s warm greetings to President Sisi and his pride in the deep relationship and cooperation between Egypt and France on various levels. Macron described the relationship between both countries as “historical” and “solid”.

Nunez reassured that, in the midst of all the challenges and instability the region is facing, the cooperation between Egypt and France is a must in order to face the obstacles both countries are struggling from.

Nunez also praised the role Egypt is playing in trying to keep the region stable and to find solutions for the conflicts and political chaos in the region.
