CAIRO – 12 May 2017: The National Academy of Sciences of Belarus met a large delegation of Egyptian scientists to open a technology center in Egypt to facilitate the transfer of technology, stated Chairman of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus (NASB) Vladimir Gusakov reported Belarus news on Thursday.

The Egyptian delegation includes representatives of the city of Zewail for Science and Technology, the National Research Center, the Central Institute for Research and Development in Metals, the Agricultural Research Center and the Ministry of Scientific Research.

Gusakov said that Egyptian- Belarusian delegation agreed to establish a technology transfer center, a branch of the Egyptian Academy of Sciences and Belarusian-Egyptian specialists will work there.

He added that Egypt is “interested in the processing of mineral raw materials, extraction of minerals including gold, and we make and export powerful equipment for these purposes.”

President of the Egyptian Academy of Scientific Research, Mahmoud Sakr said during the meeting that, “water purification, materials science and pharmaceuticals are also important for us.” He pointed out that Egypt and Belarus maintain a high level of cooperation in fields of science and technology.

In January 2017, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko visited Egypt and signed an agreement on cooperation in science and technology between Egyptian Academy for Scientific Research and Technology and the Belarusian Academy of Sciences.
