CAIRO – 22 March 2018: Egypt’s former minister of family and population Moushira Khattab announced her support to President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi for a second term in office, urging Egyptians to vote for him in the coming presidential polls scheduled for March 26-28.

“I will vote for Sisi and call on all citizens to vote for him,” Khattab said during a soiree held to discuss women issues at the Children's Cancer Hospital Egypt 57357.

Khattab, Egypt’s ex-nominee for UNESCO’s director-general, said that President Sisi has given Egyptian women their rights, pointing out that there are 89 female parliamentarians and six female ministers in the Egyptian government.

She added that women represent “half of society and they raise the other half,” so they should receive their rights to education and health to do their mission accurately.

Several public campaigns were organized by support groups in different governorates to rally for Sisi’s candidacy for re-election throughout the past weeks. The public campaigns that joined the official campaign in support of Sisi were (To Build It), (A Citizen) and (For the Sake of Egypt).

The National Election Authority (NEA), headed by counselor Lashin Ibrahim, announced on February 24 the final list for Egypt’s presidential election including President Sisi and Moussa Moustafa Moussa, Head of al-Ghad Party.

The primary results of the first round of the election will be announced on March 29, where decisions on appeals submitted by candidates, if any, will be made.

The final results of the first round will be announced on April 2.
