LONDON - 12 March 2018: Police are investigating a suspicious substance at the British parliament in Westminster, a spokeswoman for parliament said on Monday, adding that cordons were in place but there had been no evacuation.

"We are aware of a potential situation involving a suspicious substance which the Met Police are investigating," she said in a statement.

"There has been no evacuation, but the affected area has been cordoned off."
