CAIRO – 28 April 2017: The Central Administration of Veterinary Quarantine of Abu Simple released a 3,800 camel shipment coming from Sudan after it was banned earlier this month over suspected Corona-virus infection.

Coronavirus infects the upper respiratory and gastrointestinal tract of mammals and birds; the disease has a number of strains that infect humans, like the SARS-COV.

The camels were subject to the necessary medical analysis which confirmed that they are free of such infections and are ready to enter the markets.

The Central Administration of Veterinary Quarantine isolated the camels for nearly 30-days quarantine period before ensuring that they are ready to be released in the market.
