CAIRO - 13 February 2018: Head of the National Election Authority Counselor Lashin Ibrahim Tuesday called on all Egyptian expatriates to cast their votes in the presidential elections due to take place abroad on March 16-17-19 at the headquarters of Egyptian diplomatic missions or other venues to be chosen by the Foreign Ministry.

"Egyptians abroad are part and parcel of the homeland and their participation is a key element in the election process which would help build the future of the nation and maintain democracy," Ibrahim said in statements.

"The National Election Authority will spare no effort in providing all facilities to ensure a smooth process," he said, adding that every Egyptian who will be outside the country during the election days has the right to cast his vote as long as his name is registered in the voters' database and carries an Egyptian ID card or passport.

The voting abroad will be carried out under the supervision of members of the diplomatic and consular corps with the help of the Foreign Ministry staff, he said, pointing out that the process will be similar to the one to be carried out inside Egypt.

The whole process, which takes place through direct secret balloting, is managed and supervised by the National Election Authority, he added
