CAIRO – 18 April 2017: Chief of Staff of the Egyptian Armed Forces Mahmoud Hijazi headed to Germany Tuesday to attend African Chiefs of Defense Conference (CHOD), as per an invitation from U.S. Africa Command (Africom) Commander Thomas D. Waldhauser.

The conference is scheduled from April 18 to 21 and it is set to discuss military cooperation among the participating countries, according to the spokesperson of the Egyptian Armed Forces.

The conference will be hosting 49 African military leaders, to “strengthen AFRICOM’s relationships with the continent and provide a strategic forum to discuss key security concerns,” according to a press release.

A telephonic press conference will be held on April 20 with Waldhauser, Commander of the Lake Chad Basin Multi-National Task Force (MNJTF) Major General Lamidi Adeosun, and Lieutenant General Osman Noor Soubagleh, Commander of the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM).
