CAIRO – 7 January 2018: The Iranian Government banned the teaching of the English Language at primary schools on Sunday, stated a senior official at the Education sector in Iran, according to Reuters.

This come after Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei warned that the English language will impact the Iranian society and open the way for the Western “Cultural invasion”, according to eremnews.

Mehdi Navid-Adham, head of the state-run High Education Council added that teaching English in government and non-government primary schools is against the law and regulations.

Khamenei also warned Iran’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mohammad Javad Zarif, and Vice President of Iran for Economic Affairs, Mohammad Nahavandian, against speaking English instead of Persian within talks and conferences with foreign officials.
