CAIRO – 4 January 2018: Egypt’s Minister of Health Ahmad Emad el-Dein issued a report regarding the ministry’s efforts to cover medicine shortages in the market, and discussed the ongoing procedures before implementing the health insurance law during a meeting with President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi on Thursday.

According to a statement issued by the president’s spokesperson, Bassam Rady, Emad el-Dein’s report included a plan to develop the medical services inside all governmental hospitals and entities, offered by the government to Egyptian citizens.

The health minster’s plan also included notes on medicine shortages in the market, procedures to implement the health insurance law, medical examination procedures for HCV patients and the upcoming blood derivatives manufacturing project in partnership with several international medical organizations.

About 12 new hospitals and health units are expected to be built during the coming period before implementing the new health insurance law expected in November 2018, according to the statement.

President Sisi advised the health minister to continue all the required procedures during the coming year to guarantee good services to patients in conjunction with implementing the new law.

Present at the meeting was President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi, Minister of Health Ahmad Emad el-Dein, acting Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, and Head of Administrative Control Authority Mohamed Erfan.
